The Dash for Cash Raffle was an overwhelming success!!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone who participated (and did you ever participate!!). Many of our members and local businesses sold tickets on behalf of the Club and gave a great show of SUPPORT.

After printing expenses and payouts to the winners, the Club raised $5200 to put toward trail maintenance expenses to prepare the Camp 2 trail (C4A) for next season.

Keep watch for upcoming trail workdays in the spring. If you would like to participate in trail cleanup, please send an email to osceolasnowmobile@mac.com.

Call for volunteers in 2010

The 2009-2010 snowmobile season is here, get out and enjoy the trails! The Osceola Snowmobile Club volunteers have been out grooming the trails, cutting away blowdown (brush) and installing any remaining signage.

We have one reroute on our trail system, it was signed and groomed on Saturday December 19, 2009. The reroute is in the gravel pit that runs along Ryan Road. Please follow the newly signed trail segment and stay off the plowed driveway and gravel piles. This is a private landowners’ property and it is crucial that our Club members let anyone know that rides this area to respect the landowners’ request.

The Osceola Snowmobile Club needs your help. I know if you’re familiar with NYS snowmobiling you have heard it over and over, the request for new volunteers and for financial donations. I cannot stress enough the need for our Club members to come forward at this time. Our Club has a need in the following positions for volunteers:

1.      Administrative:

i)      An individual to compile our work log data, provide reporting for our trail fund reimbursement and complete our yearly trail fund application. This is a position that can be done remotely from your residence with supplied digital worksheets.
ii)      An individual to process club memberships. This position can also be done remotely from your residence via the internet. It will be required to use your personal computer and printer; all supplies will be provided otherwise.
iii)     Osceola Snowmobile Club Advertising Program is in need of individual(s) to take over this successful fundraising program for our Club. This fundraiser has been a great addition to our Club,s revenue and while also providing business the opportunity to advertise directly on Tug Hill. This position can also be done remotely from your residence with travel to Osceola, NY to process the necessary signage. An individual or individuals with a sales background, people person and enjoys building relationships with our business sponsors are a key need

1.      Labor:

i)     Groomer operators are needed for weekday and weekend grooming operations. Currently the Club is lacking weekday groomer operators and needs individuals that have an interest in grooming to please contact us.
ii)     Trail managers are needed for the upcoming offseason. We have two major projects to address during the 2010 offseason, Camp 2 trail and drainage issues on C4/C4J. The Club will be stake marking the drainage issues on C4/C4J in the next month; this trail will require smooth bore culvert pipe installation and excavation. Camp 2 will require signage, brush cutting, excavation, drainage, bridge and beaver pond work as well as various other issues resolved during the offseason.
i)    Trail workers are needed to work in conjunction with trail managers. The Club will need the use of tractors, backhoes, mini excavators, dozers and many hands.

1.      Fundraisers:

i)     The Club is 100% volunteer and is supported 100% by trail fund reimbursement, fundraisers and the generosity of our members’ donations. I want to personally thank every one of our members who have provided an additional financial contribution via our Club membership form this year. To date we have raised near $1,400, this will help our Club cover the difference in trail fund reimbursement from last year to this year and associated cost moving forward with the Camp 2 project. That said, the Club needs more fundraising efforts and individuals to head up and/or assist with these efforts. Currently a cash raffle is underway, please purchase these tickets and encourage friends…family and anyone you know to participate.

Resolutions to be adopted by Board of Directors and Members
To Authorize Amendment of Certificate of Incorporation:

WHEREAS, the corporation was formed, in general, to promote snowmobiling; and

WHEREAS, the corporation's purposes and activities have in fact focused exclusively on the provision and maintenance of free, safe, public snowmobile trails pursuant to the stated policy of New York government, as well as the education of the public on the safe operation of snowmobiles, by which the corporation improves public safety and lessens the burdens of government; and

WHEREAS, the corporation's purposes and activities are charitable in nature, including specifically within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; and

WHEREAS, the corporation's Certificate of Incorporation does not reflect the actual nature of the corporation's mission and operations;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the corporation's Certificate of Incorporation be amended to more accurately state the corporation's purposes and activities consistent with the above premises by means of a Certificate of Amendment containing such specific provisions as the directors or officers, in consultation with counsel, may determine; and be it further

RESOLVED, that upon such amendment, the corporation apply for tax exemption as a charitable organization under Section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the directors and officers be, and each of them acting individually hereby is, authorized and directed to take such actions and execute such documents as are necessary or appropriate to effect the foregoing resolutions.

The Osceola Snowmobile Club is hosting an all-cash fundraising raffle for the Camp 2 trail (C4A). This year the trail will be groomed approximately 3 miles from Potter Road on the western end, to 1 mile past North Osceola Road to the east.

This section of trail will be a minimally maintained Osceola Snowmobile Club trail, groomed once a week. This upcoming offseason, the Club has a great deal of maintenance to complete on the Camp 2 trail and needs to start raising funds to cover these expected expenditures.

We need all our members’ participation in this raffle, purchasing tickets as well as selling tickets. This is an all-cash fundraiser raffle and is appealing to anyone that has a fondness for US currency.

Please help us raise the needed funds by participating and put Camp 2 Trail Back on the Map! Return stubs and to PO Box 151, Osceola, NY 13437 by Friday February 12th or bring them with you to the Torchlight Ride. You can purchase additional tickets the night of the ride or you can request more tickets by calling or sending an email to osceolasnowmobileclub@mac.com.

2010 Annual torchlight ride & bonfire

It’s time once again for the Osceola Snowmobile Club’s annual Torchlight Ride. The ride will begin in the field in the center of town (Osceola) behind the Osceola Outpost. We will end the ride at the Groomer Barn where the Club will be serving soup and hot dogs (at no charge) to enjoy by the fire. Hope to see you there!!

This year, we will be doing an all-cash raffle drawing after the ride. You should have received your tickets in the December 2009 newsletter. Please mail them in to the Club address on the “Contact Us” page before then or bring them with you. If you need more tickets before the event, please send an email to osceolasnowmobile@mac.com, we will get them right out to you. Tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the event.
