...about us
At first, many of the trails that existed on the Tug Hill were logging trails left abandoned for the winter.
During the early years of snowmobiling, having this interconnected network of trails was not a luxury, but a lifeline to reaching essentials when roads were blocked to vehicular traffic.
As snowmobiling evolved more into a leisure sport, the early proponents of the Osceola Snowmobile Association had the foresight to realize that snowmobiling needed a form of control and regulation.
The local landowners officially formed the The Osceola Snowmobile Club in December of 1970, the by-laws were drafted the following March.
On July 24th, 2011 the Club received its 501(c) Tax-Exempt status and changed its name to the Osceola Snowmobile Assn., Inc.
The Association has evolved since that time from those initial few landowners to almost 36. We have a five acre parcel of land and a groomer building that was raised by volunteers in 1992. Since the Association was founded, we have purchased seven Groomers. At the present time, The Association operates 2 Pisten Bully groomers with Mogul Master drags-gone are days when the original grooming equipment was an Alpine Snowmobile with a set of bed springs dragged behind it!
The older machine is a 1987 Pisten Bully 270DS. This machine is 10’ wide and has a 270 hp Mercedes diesel engine. Our newer machine is a 1996 Pisten Bully 300. This machine is about 10’-4” wide and has a 200 hp Detroit diesel engine. Both of our drags are Mogul Master 18-10’s, they are 18’ long and 10’ wide. When on the trail these machines with drags are about 42’ long.
